Let me just give it to you straight. There’s no better sweet bread recipe out there…period. This banana bread has everything you could possibly want, being filled with gooey rich chocolate chips, and it’s moist and delicious texture and flavor. It’s both decadent and a taste of home with banana goodness taken to the next level.
This started off as the banana bread recipe I have made for, well…forever. Back then I thought it was the best banana bread recipe I had ever tried. That was until my husband got a hold of it – he made it and re-made it, and turned it into something over the top!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 eggs
5 heaping tablespoons sour cream
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
3 cups ripe bananas, mashed (he doesn’t actually measure these, about 3-4 bananas)
1 cup chocolate chips
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, add the butter and sugar, and allow them to cream together while you are gathering the other ingredients. Mix the dry ingredients together, then set aside. To the creamed mixture, add the sour cream, and eggs, and mix well. Add the bananas, continuing to mix until fully combined, and there are no remaining banana pieces. Add the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture, beating well. Finally, add the chocolate chips, mixing until they are evenly distributed. Pour the batter into a greased bread pan.
Bake in a 325 F oven about 60-75 minutes. Cool in the bread pan for about half an hour, then loosen the sides with a butter knife, and turn out onto a cooling rack. Once cooled, slice & store in an airtight container.
Recipe Notes:
Just as much as the ingredients, he states that the method is equally important, with the lengthy creaming of the butter & sugar as being key here. He knows what he’s talking about, this is just plain crazy-good!
With fall in the air, this is a must try for me! Looks delicious!
