This is my Mom’s recipe, I grew up with these, and now I make them for my family. So delicious, with the perfect flavor and texture. I use the same recipe for both pancakes and waffles.
Ingredients:
1 – 1/4 cup flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 baking soda
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons oil
add a little cinnamon if desired
Directions:
Mix the dry ingredients together, set aside. Mix the egg, milk, oil and starter. Add the dry ingredients into the wet, mixing well. Cook in a waffle baker sprayed with non-stick cooking spray, or a skillet for pancakes, cooking as usual.
Recipe Notes:
For a healthier option, instead of butter and syrup, add warmed cinnamon applesauce!
Of course you can add a handful of your favorite berries, just rinse and dry them, then toss in a little flour before mixing them into the batter.
Don’t forget to feed and replenish your sourdough starter after you’ve used some!
Sourdough waffles! Yummy!
